Brass tacks here, the following need to go or be re-worked.
The limitation of market view by region. To establish any sort of working exchange systems, you need everyone to have fair access to the discovery prices and bids of a centralized trading hub. I cannot stress this enough; as this actually works against the very reason I suspect it was implemented to keep it a level playing field. Now unless an exchange, and by extension the traders within it, can establish a discovery, then the whole thing is bound to fail or be manipulated. To establish a system of trust there has to be a regulated place from which the greater market can be seen unrestricted.
This does not mean that views across regional markets have to be open up. It does mean that cluster wide market numbers have to be made available. You donĘt have to tell us where something is trading at such a price. But you do have to let us know that the lowest price the market will support in the cluster is thus, and that the highest bid the market will fill in the cluster is thus.
Yes, this will have the effect of bringing prices across regions into line somewhat. However local supply and demand factors will still trump this more then anything. And it will ultimately lead to a fairer market and make player established markets more feasible, and increase investor trust.
A great way to do this would be to make it divided by empire. So for an example, I donĘt know where in the Amarr Empire such a good is trading at such a price. I do know however that the lowest bid, and highest price that the market in the Amarr Empire will support. This encourages me to play off that difference with the other empires. And again makes a place for your Eve market makers to step in. And frees up a place for your newer and much less capitalized traders and haulers to come in, and get their part of the pie also, resulting in a fairer market and much better economy.
Thank you.
im not sure i would support the cluster idea. i think it takes away from the "vastness of eve" concept. if you could "view" other regions within an empire it woudl encourage people to look harder for those places that have low buy orders and create more competition in these areas. i think this is bad. i think it should require more work to investigate different regions than it would under your cluster idea. i know it wouldnt completely give away everything, but it would heavily encourage people to look around for that low buy order they see and then set up shop there, which would sort of even out the prices as you said.
this is bad for people who have carved out little regions for their own uses. i like games where you can be special because you did your homework or just happened to find something that helps you.
